When it comes to motivation, here is a process for doing something that takes discipline over a period of time (For example, if we want to start walking every day to get fit).
1. Set a time to do the thing. for example 6 days a week for 3 months.
2. Write the time we will do the thing into our diary or/and calendar. ie write “walking” in our diary at 6.30am to 7am Monday to Saturday.
3. When the time comes to do the thing, expect to dread it and not want to do it.
4. Do it anyway, regardless of what our brain is telling us about how hard it is, or why it is not a good idea today.
The truth is that we don’t have to ENJOY the activity we have chosen to do. We just have to DO IT. And we do it because we want to reach our goals.
